In 2022, I have goals of heading down more of a home decor and design direction. My two top-visited posts of 2021 were Coffee Table Styling and Pantry Organization! I’ve always wanted to work in design and home styling and data from my blog, my affiliate links, and my Instagram show that my home decor and design content resonates with you all the most. Luckily, I have a new (old) house I can practice on, and share all of my DIY projects and home decor ideas with you!
2021’s Best in Home Decor and Style
TEXTURED CERAMIC ACCENT LAMP
I bought two of these textured ceramic accent lamps for our old house, originally intending to use them in our master bedroom. However, the scale just wasn’t hitting right and I decided to use one of them in the office and the other in our kitchen. I will say, I had some trouble with the lampshades on these sometimes. We had to repair one of the connections on one of the shades at one point. But they are SO cute and perfect for any space where you need a neutral desk or tabletop lamp.
PRINTED SHABBY CHIC BOTANICAL DISTRESSED RUG
I LOVE this colorful rug by Loloi. I actually found it on Overstock for my old office. It’s no wonder it was one of 2021’s best in home decor. I think in this house I will use it in my office space in the guest room, or possibly move it to the basement. Here’s a hot tip for when you’re rug shopping: if you love loloi rugs but want to see if you can save some money, search for “Alexander Home Rugs” on Overstock and see if you can find the match! I found this area rug for my office for much less than through any of the Loloi vendors online. Same quality for less? Yes, Please!
CHUNKY KNIT BED BLANKET – CASALUNA
This chunky knit blanket is so nice I bought it twice! I would actually put this on every bed and couch in our house if it wouldn’t be too excessive. It is so cozy, so big, and brings great texture to any space. Such a great quality blanket and washes well (just don’t dry in the machine)!
NATURAL WOOD CAMPAIGN DESK
Another piece from my office and a best-seller from last year! This natural wood campaign desk is beautiful and is at a great price point. I love that it has a storage drawer just big enough for some note pads and pens, and has the slide out features on both sides. This desk has a large surface area but doesn’t look overbearing in a room – perfect for your light and airy designs. This style desk could be used in a farmhouse, transitional, and even coastal home office.
64OZ GLASS JAR AND LID
If you came to my house you would see these glass jars in several different spaces. It’s no surprise that this glass jar and lid was a follower favorite last year! You can buy various sizes from this retailer and I love how pretty it looks to display your sugar, flour, and grains in the pantry. We also use this glass jar and lid for dog treats and I have one in my bathroom for bath salts. When function meets beauty, it makes me so happy.
FAMILY FRIENDLY STRIPE COMFORTER & PILLOW SHAM SET NAVY
This Striped comforter set was a best-seller after I shared my vision board for my son’s room! I didn’t end up getting this one but it’s a great option for a boy bedroom or guest room. I love this navy comforter color and the pin striping detail.
NEW BEDFORD 2 DOOR ACCENT CABINET BLACK
This is the cutest accent cabinet with the arch glass detail on the doors and natural wood backing and shelf for contrast. It’s refined and I love the pop of black contrast. This sold out a few times last year and it’s no wonder why – it’s at a fantastic price point for a small accent cabinet. I used it to display some of our favorite books and some small home decor items. But it could definitely function as a small bookshelf or media cabinet.
WOMEN’S CREWNECK PULLOVER SWEATER
This pullover sweater was a best-seller in late November and early December last year when it went on major sale for only $17. It’s at a great price point now and comes in several colors. A lot of sizes in some of the colors have sold out, so if you love the knit detail and the classic sweater look, I wouldn’t hesitate to add this one to your cart!
LONG LIVE BOYHOOD X IMANI COLLECTIVE BANNER
This Long Live Boyhood banner I bought for our toddler boy room has been a best-seller for over six months. I love the sweet saying and I think it can go with a variety of styles. This banner perfect if you have a modern, earthy aesthetic but also fits well in a traditional boy room like Dean’s. It’s from a small shop on Etsy too and I love supporting small!
BOYS DEN FELT WALL HANGING BANNER
Another adorable hanging wall banner I chose for our toddler boy room design made the list! This charcoal “Boy’s Den” banner is adorable and was perfect for Dean’s room. You can also get custom banners with kids’ names on them from this small shop on Etsy!
CLASSIC CAR ART
Clearly you guys loved my design ideas for the toddler boy room because the Classic Car Wall Art was another one of 2021’s best-sellers. This Etsy shop has several different car art pieces to choose from and it’s a digital download meaning, no need to wait for shipping! You simple download and print this yourself at home – which I love.
GILFORD 2 DRAWER NIGHTSTAND
I love this gorgeous affordable Gilford 2 drawer nightstand. The wood tone is perfect and is very similar to the nightstands we have in our son’s toddler boy bedroom. I love that this nightstand has two drawers for plenty of storage and is under $200.
2021’s Best Seller – X STITCH COMFORTER & SHAM SET
This x-stitch comforter and sham set from Hearth & Hand by Magnolia at Target was my number one 2021 best in home decor! So many of you bought this bedding for your own spaces and I love that! We used this exact bedding set in Dean’s room and I love the seersucker look. It’s so charming and perfect for a little boy room or guest room. I love that it brings a little bit of color without being overpowering. We paired it with these sheets and I love how they look together.
