Today I’m sharing my Pantry Organization that’s Pinterest-worthy and how to organize your own pantry like a pro!
It’s been a year and a half since we moved into our house. We finally unpacked all of the boxes (I think). Last summer, we lime-washed the outside of the house and painted the trim and doors to give it a new look (blog post on that to come). We’ve painted some of the inside rooms, bought some new office furniture and new decor. Dale and I have tackled quite a lot on my list to make this house a home.
Goal: Kitchen Organized for 2021
One goal I had for 2021 was to organize my kitchen. I can’t stand searching through cabinets and the pantry trying to remember where we stored something.
Unfortunately, organizing takes time. I am an organizer and love how things flow once it’s all done. But having just started my business, I have ZERO time to do it.
Hiring a Professional Organizer
That’s where my friend Alysha with Busy Bee Clean Tulsa came in. She offered to completely organize my pantry and of course I took her up on it.
Pantry Organization Step One: The Editing Process
First, we completed the editing process. Alysha came to my house to inventory and categorize. She calls this the “edit”. During this process we throw out any expired items (or those containers that have just a teaspoon of product left in them). Then, she sorted things into categories to make them easier to find.
Alysha does this WITH us so that we understand the process and she can understand how storage will be most functional for us. That part was AMAZING- and genius, if you ask me. It was a pretty quick too. (If I had done that all by myself it would have taken HOURS). After the edit we had a better understanding of what sort of products (baskets and containers) we wanted to use.
Finalized Organization
To finalize the organization, Alysha ordered all of the baskets, acrylic containers, and glass jars that we had agreed would look beautiful and be functional. But what I loved most about her kitchen organization process, is that she is very specific about staying in your budget. She doesn’t charge some astronomical hourly rate and she doesn’t push you to buy new product. So if your budget is really low or you aren’t wanting to spend money on product at all, she can make what you already have work.
I chose to order a decent amount of product since we’re in a new space. But she could organize your pantry without any product at all.
Alysha came back to finish the organization (praise the Lord she wasn’t scared away) and did the rest of the work one all of our containers had come in. We didn’t have to lift a finger- and it was amazing.
Pantry Organization Results
Our pantry organization has made me feel so much better about my house (and life, to be honest). Organization makes things less stressful. We don’t accidentally repurchase something we already have because we couldn’t find it. Having our pantry organized saves time when cooking too!
Not to mention, this space now looks like a Pinterest pin for pantry organization (oh wait, it is, and you can save it HERE). And let’s face it, the kitchen is the heart of the home. When the kitchen is neat and clean, everyone is happy!
Pantry Organization Products
Here are the pantry organization products we used! We went for a modern farmhouse feel and of course wanted to make the most of the pantry storage.
We used natural-weaved baskets to organize things like paper products, grains & pasta. Acrylic bins were used for breads, produce, and back stock items. And my favorite – the glass jars- used for oatmeal, dog treats, chia seeds, and other miscellaneous things!
The Lazy Susans are also a MUST because you can store so much in them.
