Welcome 2019
Hi everyone! I hope you are doing well in the new year. I’m a little sore thanks to one of my New Year’s Goals and apparently so was the nurse at my pediatrician’s office. She apologized for walking funny but said that she and her boyfriend had made resolutions to start working out more. It’s funny to think about how many people can probably say they’re sore today thanks to their resolutions, since it’s only January 3rd. If you have already broken your resolutions or haven’t even come up with any yet, it’s not too late! Every day is a fresh start and you deserve to give yourself a little grace. I want to share my New Years Goals with you, in hopes that it may be encouraging (at least I hope it is).
But before I share, I want to address “New Years Resolutions”. I refuse to call them that. To me, they are goals, because resolutions are too easily broken. I’d encourage you to set a deadline for yourself when establishing whatever your goals are (probably for most it would be the end of 2019). Moving on, I want to share my goals with you. I wanted to prayerfully establish goals that felt achievable and made me a better version of myself. So.. here they are:
-Read 20 books by the end of the year. Reading = growing. If you have a book suggestion, send it my way! I’m going to try to read some fun books but I also really want to learn more about interior design.
– Make healthy choices- be intentional with food and diligent with fitness. Basically, I want to treat my body right. Every meal, snack, drink is a choice and I want to be more aware of my choices.
-Get outside more often. Right now the weather is yucky but I want to try to get outside with Dean every day that we can!
-Dedicate time each day to grow in faith. Spend time in scripture and prayer every day.
-Be a good steward. I recently gave a talk in church about my stewardship journey and it has motivated me to keep using what God has given me to his Glory.
-Declutter. Make life simpler and less filled with “stuff”. (I probably don’t need to hang on to shoes I haven’t worn in 3 years.)
-Take naps. I hate sleeping during the day because my day feels wasted, but I want to be a little more lax about this. Easier said than done, and I realize not everyone can do this (#stayathomemomlife), but having a child is exhausting and catching up on sleep is important. A rested mind/body/soul functions better! Maybe I’ll start by napping on Saturdays when there’s another adult in the house.
-Be a better wife. This might not include cooking dinner every night, but it’s my goal to just be the wife God intended me to be for my husband. He deserves it.
-Do squats every day. I say this because I need to work on my backside, but also because doing squats also usually leads me to do some other sort of physical activity each day, and I want to be more active this year. So maybe my goal should include being more active-ha!
I’m going to continue to pray about my goals and see what God has in store for me this year. Sometimes I feel like He wants our goals to evolve as we grow. But now that you know what my goals are, hopefully you have gotten to know me a little better (if you don’t already). And maybe they inspire you to write out some goals for this year, if you haven’t already. What are your goals for 2019? Do yourself a favor and write them down. Look at them, pray about them, and act on them!
