Do you decorate for Christmas immediately in November or do you wait until after Thanksgiving? Dale usually refuses to decorate until after Thanksgiving. This year I decided to decorate a little early though! Last year we didn’t get to decorate at all because we were in the middle of our move to Kansas City. And this year, we are expecting baby GIRL Minschwaner right after Christmas so I want to get the decorating done before I am too exhausted to do it. And that way we can enjoy it for a few extra weeks as well!
Today I’m sharing our affordable Christmas Mantel Garland and Decor. I bought almost all of it this year for our first Christmas in this home. In our last home, we did a fireplace renovation that felt more modern farmhouse. This house is definitely more classic/traditional so I wanted to change up our decor a little bit. Since I was shopping for decor a little early, I found a lot of affordable Christmas mantel decor, including some really great affordable Christmas garland.
Affordable Christmas Decor
Affordable Christmas Garland
I really really love the Afloral real-touch Christmas garland. It’s beautiful and not too expensive for the quality. However it sells out every year and this year it just wasn’t quite in our budget. I ended up finding some similar real-touch faux pine and cypress garland from Amazon. It comes in a pack of 2 with small twinkle lights. I love the simplicity of this garland, but you could layer two pieces of garland on top of each other to make it look more full. You could also insert some eucalyptus sprays or pine cones to give it more points of interest.
I added this Merry and Bright wooden star garland on one side of our mantel and it brings me so much joy! I bought it from a small online decor shop and I love supporting women-owned small businesses as I shop for home decor. I think it gives just enough interest and balances out the mantle since I have stockings on the other side.
Affordable Christmas Mantel Decor – Mirror and Wreath
I was almost going to put a piece of Christmas art over the mantel but I couldn’t decide which winter scene I liked the best. I decided at the last minute to hang this faux greenery and pinecone wreath on our gold arch mirror and use that instead. The greenery and pinecone wreath can be left up all winter long and I found it at a small business online!
I’ve linked several floral scroll arch mirrors below at different price points. I love the way it turned out and think it brings warmth and just a beautiful touch to our Christmas mantel decor. The mirror and wreath combination makes it feel so cozy in the living room!
Affordable Velvet Ribbon
I also bought some affordable velvet ribbon from Amazon to tie up these stockings. I may also use it on our gifts or our staircase garland. I love the gold color I bought but this velvet ribbon does come in several color ways.
Mix-and-Match Christmas Stockings
I have done matching Christmas stockings in Christmases past but this year I decided to mix and match some patterns. Usually I will use our personalized stockings from Pottery Barn for Santa to fill on Christmas Eve, but I like these stockings for affordable Christmas mantel decor throughout the season. The plaid Christmas stocking mixed with the green and white stockings creates another point of interest on our mantle. The stockings I used this year are all from the Threshold or Studio McGee line at Target, although two of them I bought last year.
I might have a slight stocking collection problem. While I was going through Christmas decor I counted that I have 10 (!!) stockings in our Christmas boxes and there are only 4 of us in our family. But I love to get new stockings to change up my Christmas mantel decor from year-to-year.
Affordable Christmas Mantel Decor – Gold Taper Candlesticks
I love these textured gold taper candle holders. The texture is beautiful and they were really affordable. I never light these candles but you could get some realistic LED taper candles if you want the look of a lighted candle without the fire hazard.
I’ve linked all of our affordable Christmas mantel decor throughout the post and below. I hope this gives you some inspiration as you’re decorating for Christmas this year.
