Hey friends! A group of Tulsa blogger babes and I are sharing our family photo style picks – if we bought everything from Target! I personally love this idea, because you don’t have to run to 10 different stores just for three or four outfits. I also love that this is SUPER budget friendly considering most items are under $40. You won’t find that in a department store!
You can also enter to win a $150 Target gift card just by following us all on Instagram and the LIKEtoKNOW.it app, and by commenting and tagging a friend on one of our photos!
My Coordination Process
For those of you who are new around here, my family consists of my husband, and my son (14 months) Dean, and me. So for picture time, I usually don’t struggle TOO much to find only 3 coordinating outfits. I know a lot of people who say that family pictures is like running a three-ring circus and I have to say, props to those mommas! I know family photo time can be a little rough and stressful. So, I decided to pick out several outfit options to hopefully help you out, since this time of year is crazy enough as it is!
First, I rounded up several items that I would wear (which was the fun part). I then headed to the men’s and toddlers’ sections to see what I could get for Dale and Dean to coordinate with me. I HIGHLY recommend picking out your outfit first. Then, move on to choosing what everyone else will wear. You don’t want to be stuck in something you don’t feel great in just because it “matches”. You’ll be uncomfortable and won’t be able to really be yourself in your photos!
Choose something you feel beautiful in – something comfortable, something that doesn’t make you sweat or break out in itchiness (say no to wool sweaters) and you’ll be good to go! If you go with a more neutral look, it makes coordinating the other outfits that much easier! Then move on to the other big and small people in your life.
Pick a “theme” Ahead of Shopping…
Another thing I like to think about ahead of time is what style of photo we’re going for. Are they going to be casual? Then I can wear a neutral sweater, some denim, and adorable booties. Are we going a little more formal? I’ll go with a dress or a sweater with a midi skirt and some pointed-toe heels. Just pick your “theme” and go from there! You don’t have to go all out like the Kardashians, but if that’s your style, PLEASE tag me in your family photos. I want to see that awesomeness!
One more thing I would also suggest, is choosing a color palette of 3-ish colors, but DON’T make sure that everyone matches exactly. Also, it’s my advice (and my photographer’s) to not put everyone in a solid color. It’s important to mix prints and add more than one color into the group to make sure that you don’t end up looking like a family of smurfs or The Wiggles.
My Target Selection
Target is one of my favorite places to shop, but they don’t always have a HUGE selection of clothing in store. I included several things from my try-on but ended up having better luck shopping online. I made sure to link everything here!
Women’s Style Picks
First, I’m sharing my photo-friendly style picks for women! These are tops that I think would be super simple to coordinate with. A majority of them are very neutral but have subtle patterns and texture. I included a few tops with color that would look great on everyone! Scroll through to see all of my style finds.
Men’s Family Photo Style Picks
There aren’t always great Men’s clothing selections in stores at Target. I think it all depends on which location I visit and WHEN I go. I found several things online that I would totally put Dale in for family photos. These dress shirts with muted prints and patterns are great, because you can easily mix prints! The sweaters with the shawl collar are just so classic. And my favorite thing might be the cardigan – Dale loves them too. It would be perfect to layer over one of these dress shirts (or a shirt he already has) for photos!
Toddler Boys’ Family Photo Style
I always have a blast shopping for clothes for Dean. There’s just something SO cute about a little boy dressed up like a big boy! My favorite things are the blazers (I mean, can you EVEN?!). I love all of these items and am having to practice major self control to keep from buying them all!
I linked everything I found in store and online in the LIKEtoKNOW.it app. As always, if you don’t have the app, you can shop my finds right here in this post! You can also just head on over to this page to shop my finds!
Thanks again for reading! If you’re feeling extra generous, don’t forget to PIN this post to your style board! Lately I’ve been trying to grow on Pinterest, so I’d really appreciate if you followed my profile! And, tag me in your recent family photos if you used any of my picks. I’d love to see them!
